Iran president will meet same fate as Saddam: Peres

Jerusalem, April 16 (PTI): Reacting sharply to Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's veiled threats against Israel, former premier Shimon Peres on Saturday predicted that he would meet the same fate as deposed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

Peres also said that Iran's act of threatening another UN member would only lead to its getting cornered in the international community.

"Ahmadinejad's statements remind those of Saddam and he will end up the same way as Hussein has," Peres, number two on the Kadima party list, told Israel Radio.

Delta, pilots union reach tentative agreement

Atlanta, April 16 (AP): Delta Air Lines Inc and negotiators for its pilots union reached a tentative agreement on a long term pay and benefit cuts that could avert a strike at America's third largest carrier and ease uncertainty among travellers over the busy Easter holiday weekend.

No details of the agreement were released on Friday, but the deal means the two sides have cleared a major hurdle though they are not out of the woods yet. The deal is subject to ratification by the airline's 5,930 pilots and must be approved by the bankruptcy court.

Advani slams UPA Govt. over Narmada

Hindupur (AP), April 16. (PTI): Accusing the UPA Government at the Centre of creating a "messy stalemate" over the Narmada issue, senior BJP leader L K Advani today said moves to stop construction work on the dam were politically motivated and made a mockery of Government's talk of Bharat Nirman.

"Stopping further work on the mega (Narmada) project in which concerned states have already invested Rs 21,000 crore in 16 years makes a mockery of UPA Goverment's tall talk of Bharat Nirman," he said
